YOUR DATA, EXPLAINED

Privacy Policy

Who is responsible?

Florian Hauck, Hauptstr. 25A, 86807 Buchloe, Germany, is responsible for the processing described here. For support or privacy requests, email mail@flohauck.de.

Your game on your device

The app saves your current game, personal best, preferences and locally cached leaderboard information on your device. If you choose to publish a score, a pending submission may also be saved locally so it can be retried when a connection becomes available. There is no automatic upload of every game.

An online profile uses a randomly generated player ID and a secret held in the iOS Keychain. This is not an advertising identifier and is not used to track you across other apps. The credential is not synced by Bricktide to iCloud. Other local app data may be included in device backups according to your Apple settings.

This processing provides the game and the online functions you request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Local game data normally remains until it is replaced or the app's data is removed. Removing the app does not delete your online profile, and iOS may retain Keychain credentials. Use the profile deletion option before uninstalling if you also want to remove your online data.

The optional world leaderboard

The app contacts our leaderboard service to fetch rankings and the world record. At the end of a game it sends the numeric score to calculate your potential rank, even if you do not publish it. This rank check does not add the score to the leaderboard database.

Saving a player name creates an online profile. We store the name you choose, the random player ID, a hash of your authentication secret, and profile creation and update times. Please use a nickname rather than your real name or contact details.

When you choose Submit, we store that round's ID, score, level, moves, cleared-brick count, board size, game rules/version and mode, a submission checksum, and submission time. Each submitted round can appear on the public leaderboard. Other people can see your player name, score, level and rank. The public service also returns player and round IDs, which link entries from the same profile. It does not publish your authentication secret.

Providing a name and the round data is necessary only for the online profile and score-submission features. You do not need to provide them to play. We process them to provide these requested features (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). We keep the profile and submitted rounds while the profile exists; they have no automatic expiry. You can change your name or select Delete online profile in the app's settings. Deleting the profile removes it and its scores from the active database and clears the profile's local credentials and pending submissions. It does not reset your local game or personal best.

Deleted database records may remain in Cloudflare's rolling disaster-recovery history for up to 30 days before that history expires. They are not served in the live leaderboard. If you cannot access the app, email us about deletion or access to your data. We may need enough information to verify which profile is yours.

Hosting, connection data and security

Cloudflare hosts this website and the leaderboard service and stores leaderboard data in its D1 database. Loading a page or contacting the service necessarily sends technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, request time and HTTP headers. These may include browser or app information. Cloudflare processes this information to deliver requests, operate its network and protect the service.

The leaderboard uses your IP address for abuse prevention and request limits. IP addresses are not stored in the leaderboard's player or round records. We have not enabled application request logging in the leaderboard Worker. Cloudflare may still process operational and security records under its own retention practices; retention depends on the purpose, the service involved and legal requirements, rather than a single period for every request.

Our legal basis for delivery and security is our legitimate interest in running a reliable website and protecting the game and leaderboard from abuse (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare and its service providers are recipients of data needed to supply these services. Processing can take place outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Cloudflare describes its transfer arrangements in its Data Processing Addendum, including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable and Standard Contractual Clauses for other restricted transfers. You can request further information or a copy of applicable safeguards from us.

Cookies, advertising and external services

This website does not use analytics, advertising pixels, embedded social media, external font services or optional tracking cookies. Images are served with the website, and text uses the fonts already available on your device. We do not use app data for personalised advertising or cross-app tracking.

An App Store link takes you to Apple's service. Apple handles downloads, your Apple Account and any diagnostics you choose to share under its own privacy arrangements. A contact email link opens your email app; it does not send a message until you choose to send it.

When you contact us

If you email us, we and our email service provider process your email address, message and any information you include in order to answer and resolve your request. This is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for requests concerning the game service, or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for our legitimate interest in responding to other enquiries. Please do not send passwords or sensitive information that is not needed for your request.

We retain correspondence for as long as it is needed to resolve the enquiry and reasonably handle follow-up questions or legal claims. If a legal retention duty applies, the relevant information is retained for that required period (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).

Your choices and rights

Depending on the applicable conditions, you may request access to, correction, deletion or restriction of your personal data, and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. Contact mail@flohauck.de to exercise these rights.

You may also complain to a data protection authority, including the authority where you live or work. Our local authority is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority for the Private Sector (BayLDA). Bricktide does not use personal data for decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects; calculating a game rank is only a gameplay feature.

Children and public names

We do not ask for a date of birth, a real name or an email address to play. The leaderboard is public, so children should avoid using identifying information in player names. A parent or guardian who has concerns about a child's profile can contact us to discuss removing it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the app, website or data handling changes. The date above identifies this version.
